Our Facilities
The custom build hopsital is fitted with 4 operating theatres equipped with the lastest state of the art ophthalmic and anaesthetic equipment to care for adult and paediatric patients.
QEH facilities are licensed with Queensland Health and accredited with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS).
Our highly specialised medical, nursing and support staff follow strict practice guidelines to ensure patients undergoing day procedures receive safe and comprehensive care.
Reception

Our reception area has Foxtel, a children's play area, daily newspapers and a variety of magazines to read while carers wait .
Family, friends and/or carers are welcome to stay in reception or visit the on-site coffee shop.
Alternatively, carers may wish to leave the premises once the patient has been admitted and return when ythe patient is ready to be discharged.
Reception staff will validate a second car park ticket for the patient's pick-up on the day of surgery only.
Pre-Operation 
The pre-operative area has 9 private pre-operative rooms which ensures patient's medical and personal information remains confidential.
The anaesthetist discusses the anaesthetic process with each patient in these rooms before tthe patient is taken to one of the 4 anaesthetic bays.
Just before surgery the patient is transferred to one of the anaesthetic bays where the patient is prepared for surgery by the anaesthetist and the anaesthetic nurse.
Operating Theatre
QEH has 4 operating theatres.all of which are fully equipped for most ophthalmic surgical procedures for adult and paediatric patients.
These theatres have the latest, up to date ophthalmic and anaesthetic equipment .
Recovery Unit
QEH has 10 first-stage recovery bays and 22 recliner chairs for second-stage recovery. There is also a dedicated paediatric area.
After surgery patients are transferred to the Recovery Unit and clinical nurses monitor the patient's progress.
Discharge

QEH has two discharge rooms.
Post-operative discharge instructions are given to patient and their carer in a quite, private area and you will be given written instructions to take home.
Outpatient Procedures
QEH provides outpatient facilities for:
- Argon laser treatment
- IOL master assessment
- Yag laser treatment.
Cafe

The Orbit Cafe, in the courtyard adjacent to reception, provides a selection of light meals, snacks, coffee and cold drinks, in a comfortable shaded outdoor seating environment.
The Cafe is open to the public.
Car Parking


Queensland Eye Hospital provides free of charge car parking under the building. Reception staff will validate your parking ticket.
Access to the "Secure" car park entry is located in Hope Street (level B2). Entry is between the hours of 6.00 am and 6.00 pm.
NOTE Please do NOT park on Little Edward Street as it is a Clearway.
Entry
- Drive into the car park, take a ticket from the machine at the entry of the car park and follow the QEH signs (veering left) to a parking bay near the lifts.
- Take the lift to the Ground Floor, turn left out of the lift and proceed to the QEH entry.
- QEH staff will validate your parking ticket, providing you with free parking on the day of your surgery.
