QEH is a tertiary referral hospital, which means we do not do consulting here only surgery.
If you or a member of your family needs to see an ophthalmologist they need to FIRST see their Local General Practioner or Optometrist who will do an initial primary eye health exam and then refer on to a qualified Ophthalmologist (Medical Doctor Eye Specialist). If an ophthalmologist has been recommended previously and has been unable to see you, or can not see you for a long time, you must return to your referring GP or Optometrists for them to make another referral. You may if you wish take the list of shareholder and Visiting Medical Officers to QEH with you to your visit to the GP or Optometrist as a way of showing them the sub specialists skills available for these Eye Surgeons.
The list of QEH surgeons is available at http://www.qldeye.com/our-shareholder-surgeons and http://www.qldeye.com/our-visiting-surgeons
It will then be the professional judgement of the Ophthalmologist as to what form of treatment you or your family member may need which may or may not include surgery.
I trust this is of help.
Kind regards,
Mark Grey
Chief Executive
