A Hospital of Excellence
The Queensland Eye Hospital (QEH) was established in 1997 as the Queensland Eye Centre, by 19 like minded Brisbane ophthalmologists who saw the need for a dedicated ophthalmic day surgery hospital. Since that time, Queensland Eye Hospital has grown, moved location and developed into the largest stand alone ophthalmic day surgery hospital in Australia with 40 ophthalimic surgeons, of which 24 are shareholders.
QEH patients come from all over Queensland, Northern New South Wales and overseas to have procedures performed by our highly skilled ophthalmologists.
QEH provides weekday and out of hours emergency surgery to private, self funded and Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) patients.
The aim of QEH is to provide a full range of ophthalmic services to all patients at a resonable cost regardless of their choice of health cover. These include:

The Hospital and Staff
The custom built hospital is fitted with 4 operating theatres equipped with the latest ophthalmic and anaesthetic equipment to care for adult and paediatric patients.
Our highly skilled clinical and support staff are experienced in all areas of ophthalmology, anaesthetics and hospital administration.
QEH is conveniently located close to the Brisbane CBD, all major public and private health care facilities, Wickham Terrace Surgeon Consultation Rooms, Central Railway Station, hotels and bed and breakfast accommodation.
Standards
Licensed with Queensland Health and accredited with the Australian Council for Healthcare Standards (ACHS), we follow strict practice guidelines to ensure patients undergoing day procedures receive safe and comprehensive care.
Carer
It is QEH's strict policy that every patient has a carer. Patients shall not be admitted for day surgery without a carer and no patient shall leave the premises unaccompanied.
